REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSTITUTES

 

General Requirements

• Person wishing to substitute are required to file an application online with the BISD.
• A copy of Social Security card showing present legal name is required.
• A copy of state driver’s license is required.
• Complete Form I-9(Employment Eligibility Verification)-Section 1 and Form W-4 (Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate).
• Senate Bill ( Fingerprinting)

NOTE: Electronic fingerprinting for school district employees is mandatory for the State of Texas.  The Department of Human Resources will provide you with the necessary information to make your appointment for fingerprinting.

 THIS COST IS THE APPLLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY.

 

Additional Requirement for Specific Positions

 

SUBSTITUTES Teachers/Tutors

• College transcript confirming minimum of sixty(60) earned hours of credit from an accredited college or university, substantiated by an official transcript in a sealed envelope that will not be returned if you withdraw your name from the substitute list. (MATH, ENGLISH, HISTORY AND SCIENCE are required).

 

ORIENTATION

When an applicant has been accepted as an official substitute in the Beaumont ISD, he/she must attend an orientation for substitutes before being assigned to a school.  Failure to attend an orientation would prevent an applicant’s name from being placed on the substitute list.  BISD retired teachers are exempt from the screening process and orientation.  (TWO YEARS or LESS)

 

Secretaries/Clerks:

• High School Diploma or GED

 

Aides:

• Applicant must minimum of Forty-eight (48) earned hours of credit from an accredited college or university, substitutes by an official transcript in a sealed envelope that will not be retuned if you withdraw your name from the substitute list. (MATH, ENGLISH, HISTORY and SCIENCE are required.

 

Bus Drivers

• High School Diploma or GED

 

Child Nutrition (Cafeteria)

• High School Diploma or GED

 

Nurse

• College transcript of courses taken for nursing certification
• Nurses License

 

Substitute List:

Upon completion of the substantiated application and all requirements, an applicant’s name shall be added to the official substitute list.  Only personnel approved by the Human Resources Department are eligible for substituting in BISD.  It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit all necessary forms as completed package before any action will be taken by the Human Resources Department.
